Welcome to J Steppin' 4 Autism, an charitable organization founded by a mom of an amazing kid who is nonverbal autistic! Our mission is to bring together families, friends, and other supporters of those diagnosed with autism to help spread not only awareness, but acceptance. Autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how one interacts with others, communicate, learn and behave. According to Centers for Disease Control, autism affects 1 in 36 childrenWith your help, we will continue working towards equity and inclusion for people with autism.
My Story
In March 2020, the world became oh so different for all of us with the presence of COVID but my life changed that same year when my 2 1/2-year-old was diagnosed nonverbal autistic. So many tears were shed, so many questions needed to be answered, and the realization that I may never hear him say the word all moms long to hear. I have faith that he will become verbal one day. Until that day, I remain steadfast, and I find comfort in knowing he knows who his mom is.
Jaxson is now 7 years old, and he is so amazing! I have a handsome, loving, and very smart lil guy! He is all about watching Fox2 news (and now some other news outlets), jumping, bouncing on his yoga ball, laughing, and riding his scooter. I can't thank God enough for blessing me with him, my very own Superhero!
I share my story to bring awareness and spread the importance of acceptance. I hope that you will join us as we bring families and friends together in honor of my son and others diagnosed with autism.
My baby proves every day that he is a miracle and that he will never give up. Autism is apart of my son but it does not define my son. I will continue to be his voice, he will forever by my heart!
